Water Polo Victoria (WPV) is the state governing body for Water Polo in Victoria. WPV is responsible for the development and education of water polo players, officials, coaches and volunteers throughout Victoria and the conduct of competitions and championships for all levels of participation, interdependently with its members and other stakeholders.

WPV is a not-for-profit sporting organisation with a vision of securing a sustainable future for the sport in Victoria through a balanced focus on participation for fun and pathways for performance. About the role
​
As WPV’s CEO, you will provide leadership and support to deliver the strategic objectives of WPV. This position leads the development and implementation of operational plans and systems to enhance efficiency, quality and member satisfaction. In this role, you will also advocate for Water Polo in Victoria, and for Victoria on the national Water Polo stage.
​
Water Polo in Victoria has vibrant and growing junior, senior and social competitions. With a number of athletes excelling nationally and internationally, the sport has a strong platform from which to move forward.

Reporting to the WPV Board, success in the CEO role relies on the ability to:

Oversee the operational management of the organisation, including implementing strategic and operational plans, planning and preparing for future operational needs along with establishing appropriate structures and mobilising resources to achieve the goals and objectives of WPV.

Oversee the design and delivery of WPV’s program of events and competitions, products and services.

Ensure WPV’s financial and other resources are prudently managed within budget guidelines, delegation policies and according to current laws and regulations.

Manage the financial, human, technical and physical resources in consultation with the WPV Board.

Support the WPV Board in identifying and managing risks and legal compliance requirements.

Maintain an excellent working relationship with the WPV Board of Directors, including supporting the operations and administration of the WPV Board.

Implement and maintain comprehensive human resources policies and procedures, and effectively managing WPV’s human resources.

Build and maintain professional relationships with WPV’s community and stakeholders..

Oversee the development and implementation of a fundraising and sponsorship plan to support the financial viability of the sport in Victoria.

About you
​
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have the following qualifications, skills, traits and experiences:

Australian working rights

A bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Non-Profit Management or related field is desirable.

At least 5 years’ experience in a senior management position, working with a volunteer Board.

Valid Working with Children’s Check
-
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence.

Experience within Sports Administration will be highly regarded.

Advanced and proven contemporary leadership skills with the ability to influence.

Position location
​
Water Polo Victoria’s office is situated at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. While some flexibility is available, the successful candidate will be required to spend at least 50% of their time on site.

The role will require some interstate travel, and working outside normal hours (9.00am – 5.00pm) from time to time.
​
