Regional Academy Coaches Announcement

Water Polo Victoria is excited to announce the coaches who will assist in delivering the Term 2 Regional Academy sessions in Albury/Wodonga.

The coaching team will be led by Katie Bruce.

Katie started out in Water Polo at 10 years of age playing Flippa Ball. As she developed through the junior years, she had the privilege to be coached/mentored by some great coaches and club people in Albury and at representative levels.

While playing as a junior she also volunteered to coach younger teams and even came away with a few premierships! Growing up she had the chance to play for many representative teams and that experience has shaped the player she is now as a senior.

She will be ably supported by 3 other individuals who need no introduction to the Water Polo Community. Macy Clark, Abigail Sexton and Ryleigh Hogan. All 3 coaches have been involved in the talent pathway and state programs for NSW/Victoria and will add a wealth of knowledge and talent to the program for the athletes.

The Ovens & Murray Water Polo Association will also be assisting Water Polo Victoria in ensuring this program is a success and a permanent fixture each term.

As this is the first iteration of the program for the region it will evolve to match the academy/development program that is being delivered in Melbourne.

Key notes about the program

  • Commences on the 15th April (Water Polo Victoria understands some athletes will be attending the NSW Junior Championships).

  • Athletes have been provided their allocated training days (due to ensuring we can facilitate the program). The finalise allocation will be confirmed during the school holidays.

  • Sessions are from Monday - Thursday for Term 2 finishing at the end of June.

  • No sessions will take place on ANZAC Day and Kings Birthday.

  • Two coaches will be allocated to each session.

  • This program is aimed at improving the individual athlete, helping them develop better skills, fitness and understanding of Water Polo in order to play at their best.
