Water Polo Victoria Domestic Calendar

With the changes to NSC and AYC competitions and after consultation with clubs and discussion with the Water Polo Victoria Board the domestic competitions are reverting back to what they were post COVID.

The below structure will be in place at the commencement of the 2024/25 season and beyond (minimum next 3 years).

Seniors

The Senior Summer competition will start at the beginning of Term 3 from the 16th July 2024 with finals taking place in early December.

In Jan - March 2025 senior teams will have the opportunity to take part in a round robin weekly style competition and events such as senior state tournament, and Polo by the Pier.

Term 2 in 2025 will provide a break for clubs however individuals (and clubs if they wish) will still have an opportunity to engage in water polo through social programming.

Juniors

The Juniors will have an opportunity to play in a round robin weekly competition commencing on the 21st July 2024 as a lead in to the Junior Summer Competition.

The Junior summer competition will commence on the 13th October 2024 and will run until finals are played in March 2025.

Term 2 in 2025 will provide a break for clubs however individuals will still have an opportunity to engage in water polo through social programming.

State Program

With the changes announced by Water Polo Australia State programming will be throughout Term 2 and Term 3 moving forward. Tournaments prior to NSC (East Coast Challenge, Interstate Challenge) will be held in the June/July school holidays to assist coaches with selections and provide athletes with a tournament experience.

Academy/Development Programs

These programs will continue to run throughout Terms 1 - 4 and assist in providing athletes with an opportunity to develop individually.

Due to the short turnaround in the new competition structure Water Polo Victoria will be providing a round robin social competition (approx 6 rounds) in May for all senior and junior teams that wish to take part. This will commence in the middle of May 2024 and run until the end of June. Details will be released next week confirming costs and dates. This is for the 2024 season only, for 2025 and beyond below is in place.
